My mother-in-law gave each of us $14,000. Will her gift hurt her qualification for Medicaid?

My mother-in-law moved in with us 24 months ago. We live in California, will her gift to us hurt her qualifications for Medicaid in the future if she needs it. Right now she lives with us and pays her own way. She has dementia
