Will Medicaid pay for home care?

Eyerishlass Jul 2017
Medicaid, if they'll pay, will pay a pittance.

However, it will not be 24/7 care and is a waiver program. It is often a few hours per day or week and the elder has to qualify at need financially and medically. Waiver means that it may have a waiting list, will be lower pay frequently with no benefits for workers, and may not pay family. Your Area Agency for Aging should be able to tell you of programs. Some states have gone to managed care models with elders going to day programs and family proving evening, night and weekend care.

Many states have Medicaid programs that seek to keep elders out of Nursing homes for as long as possible.
