Any proven thing out there for dementia other than Donepezil and Namenda?

My wife has been on this combination for some time. She is quickly losing both short and long time memory, forgetting how to do simple things, Ren

The new med (Namzaric) is also to be used with Donepesil the same as with Namenda only omit the Namenda. It is for moderate to severe alz. My wife has lost her old memory and is having a very tough time with the present along with addition problems as I have noted in an earlier post. She is in the severe alz mode at this time. If any one has tried Namzaril along with Dobepesil, I would surely appreciate feed back.

intlMind I do believe these meds have (hopefully) slowed the process. Several years involved here. We are going to discuss another med when we have our semi-annual check up next month. Ren

Are you implying that the combination of those is causing the dementia? My own mother is on Donepezil (not namenda) but with her its just loosing short-term memory. She can remember clearly something her parents said decades ago, but you have to tell her several times of anything recent that happened and she still may forget.

I wish I knew more. Maybe, others will respond here about their experiences. What is causing your wife's dementia? Alzheimers? How long has she been on these medications? How long has she had dementia?

I regularly read that these medications do not stop the progression, but, they somehow slow the symptoms. I'm not really sure what that means. I'm always trying to find more information about it, but, I never find much positive about it.
