My 95 year old Mom has had three back to back UTIs. Any suggestions?

She has Alzheimers and is in Memory Care Unit. She wears depends all the time and is incontinent. I have pushed water, cranberry pills and she gets taken to bathroom quite frequently. Any suggestions to stop UTIs. She has altered meanness ad stubbornness with UTIs

My mother had recurrent bladder infections. Her doctor put her on bactrim taken every other day (MWF). I also give her a high-dose cranberry supplement. She hasn't had another bladder infection since she began the bactrim a couple of years ago, so it appears to be working. Knock on wood!

My mom was also getting UTI's frequently. She was put on a daily dose of Macrodantin (antibiotic) as a profalactic. It has worked great so far. Try keeping a few bottles of water close by so she stays well hydrated. Good luck!

What helped my mom was a probiotic called rePhresh and a vaginal suppository that contained estrogen.
