What are the financial limits for any kind of at home care?

My husband has Alzheimer's and I am his only care giver. I'm 81 with a heart valve problem and do need more help.

One way to get help is to apply for Medicaid. Medicaid will let you know what are income and savings limits for your State. Depending on what programs Medicaid provides for your State, they could send out an Aide to help for a few hours each week... I know that probably isn't enough help. But give Medicaid a call, every State has their own programs for seniors.

Gosh, being 81 isn't easy to be a caregiver... I got burnt out at 70, so I give you credit for being a caregiver at your age. Eventually there comes a point where one needs a higher level of care because the spouse just cannot keep up with all the demands.

You probably won't want to hear this but Medicaid will pay for full time care only if the person is moved to a nursing home that takes Medicaid. By doing that, you can go visit your husband and once again be his wife, instead of his caregiver.
