How much should it cost to obtain guardianship?

I found a very low-budget attorney in Cook County, Illinois (Chicago area) who would file the paperwork for $1k USD. I had letters from doctors and other evidence to support me as guardian. In Cook County, you can file the paperwork on your own and represent yourself in court at no extra cost. You may not need an attorney to do guardianship paperwork filing. Has your Loved Ones doctors declared her incompetent? Do you have a statement of that in a letter? You will have to notify all next of kin equal to you that you intend to file for guardianship. It can be done w/o attorney, but an attorney will make sure you don't forget anything that's necessary. Good luck.
