How do I find help dealing with my mother with Alzheimer's who lives in another state?

I live in Ohio, she lives in Florida. I want to move her back to Ohio with me. I have medical power of attorney but I don't know where to start.

dbshaw, is your Mother on Medicaid in Florida? If yes, then she would need to apply and be approved for Medicaid in Ohio as each State has their own rules, regulations, and programs.

Does your mother want to move? Or would you feel better if Mom was closer to you in your own State?

May I ask what stage of Alzheimer's? It is much easier to move someone who is in the early stage and it is easier for them to adjust to a new location.

Is your question about how to make the move or legal issues? If mom is still competent can you get financial POA? That would be a big help. With Alz you're going to need control of her finances soon if not right now. If she's incompetent and not cooperating you may have to look into legal guardianship.
