Can claiming my mom as a dependent for taxes jeopardize her future eligibility for Medicaid?

I caught wind of this somewhere, but can't remember how...if it's true, how and why? I get the runaround when I try to ask a professional. If I ask a tax accountant, they don't know anything about medicaid. If I ask an elder care lawyer, they don't know about taxes...what to do? Thanks for any input.
