Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a Medicare advocate?

Who is able to help folks through unusual Medicare challenges? An Anomaly has appeared on my Mom's Medicare and somehow, her primary insurance Medicare, was put as secondary and her secondary as Primary. This has caused numerous denials on her recent medical bills. We are slowly getting this back to what it has always been since 1984, but having an "expert" advocate to do some of the calling and advising us would be a wonderful aid for when these challenges arise.

Janie, there is a Resources Advocate at our Catholic Social Services (via Area Agency on Aging) who specializes in Medicare and Medicaid for seniors. I wonder if your community has someone like that available, and if they could help with your issues? That sounds like a real pain! I feel bad for you.

I went to my hospital. They had a lady who helped me. She was well versed in Medicare. You might try a hospital.

Google "SHIP" and the name of your state. SHIP stands for Senior Health Insurance Plan. This search should have links to a SHIP person in your area or county. You could also call your local heath department senior services or senior center. They would know where a SHIP counselor is.
