We will have to bring my husband with Alzheimer's home sometime in June. How difficult is it to find the right kind of help?

Because of lack of money, we will have to bring my husband (with Alz) home sometime in June.
Has anyone ever done this and was it difficult to find the right kind of help? We think that 5 or 6 hours per day? I am having a hard time with this but don't know how else to take care of him. No he would not qualify for Medicaid because of the look back period. Has anyone ever done this and was it difficult to find the right kind of help?

Did he give money away in the past 5 years? Please check again with Mediciad and also go to Area Agency on Aging to ask for help.
Pamstgma isn't right...you can t do it! And home care is by the hour and will be very costly too.
Your only other option is for the family to divide up the hours so no one person is left with the full load of care.

Be sure to take care of yourself....good luck!

Whatever you gave away, get it back. Caring for him will kill you. Thirty percent of caregivers die before the patient does.
