How to measure progress?

As mentioned my grandfather has had paraplegia for about a month now and of course his condition hasn't changed much yet, but I think that it will, especially I fear that it will get worse.

How can you "keep track" to know if it is getting better/worse? I fear that because I am with him all the time that I won't be able recognize the changes.

Thank you!

Keep a daily journal. Record the pertinent observations. "Grandpa didn't eat much today. 1/2 piece of toast for breakfast; Ensure for lunch; several bites of fried chicken for dinner, ate a few bites of mashed potatoes."

Or, "Grandpa was in a good mood today. Felt like getting outside so we sat in the backyard for half an hour."

"The Dr. changed grandpa's medications today. He's to start on _______ today."

Once you start keeping a journal you'll be able to look back and see trends or subtle changes.
