I'm trying to find a life insurance company for a healthy person (52) on disability for macular degeneration. Recommendations?

Hello there! I'm trying to find a life insurance company... but I just spoke with a 'broker' and she said "unfortunately, no company will cover you" I only have macular degeneration and in general I'm healthy, no smoke, no drugs, no drinking... I am looking for a life insurance company...

There are life insurance companies who will give policies to someone with a disability. Google "life insurance policies for the disabled".

The 'broker' you spoke with could hve been a broker for less than a week, not know what macular degeneration is nor what the underwriting rules for the companies he/she represents are.

So you can go online to select quotes dot com or call their number and see what they say. At least they represent some of the larger companies. Needless to say, since you aren't working, you may be limited in the size of the policy you purchase. Each company has its own rules. good luck

I would check around. There are lots of life insurance companies that don't even do physical, it's called guaranteed acceptance life coverage. I believe one is liberty medical or liberty mutual. You see commercials all the time on tv for this type coverage. Typically these companies will cover you, but there's a minimum time you must be covered before it will pay out. Typically 2 years. If you were to pass before that time, your premiums are usually returned to beneficiary rather than policy limit paid out. I sold insurance for many years & one question was do you receive disability. Honestly I never had someone apply that was on disability so I can't say for sure if they'd reject the policy or not. But what I would have done is let you go ahead and do an application without premium so the underwriters can look it over and send back the correct rate with approval or a denial. I do believe if your only health issue is vision that you would've been approved, so definitely call around more. I was a multi line agent that did auto, home, life, health and business insurance. So check with who you have any of that type policy & if they say no immediately, suggest to them what I said about doing application for underwriting to review. They may not have thought of doing that themselves and let's be honest, they want to make a sale, so when you suggest that, they may actually thank you for it :) Wishing you best of luck!!

There are many reasons you can be rejected for life insurance. They even run your DNA now and can bounce you for bad chromosomes. They want to insure people under 40 with nothing in the medical history and all good genes.
