Will Medicaid be available in the future if my mom's level of care becomes too much for us to pay?

I know it will be for physical care but I'm concerned right now about mental care such as if wandering becomes a problem and she needs a higher level of care that is beyond our financial means.

Dwarren, since she is still in independent living, it is important to plan for her future. If she can afford a nursing home on private pay for two years, she will be able to choose a very nice facility and convert to Medicaid and stay there.
If she spends all her money and goes in under Medicaid, there are few choices available and the nursing home may not be so nice.
If she gifts away her house or savings or car, Medicaid will not cover her and you will be taking her into your home for care.

Could you dream a hause in front of the sea, your loved one cared with many dignity, by real human carers, proactive companion, and a hospital at 20 minutes, for 2000$?

I hope someone answers you. From what I've read on here your parent has to be indigent. No more that $2900. In assets. I think they can owe a home but when they die Medicaid gets paid back out of the sale of the house. It's difficult to get financial help from what I understand. I'm sure their are experts that can chime in on this site.
