Can I re-apply for Medicaid again this year?

I applied for Medicaid for mom last year when she first moved in with us. She was turned down.  She receives her social security and retirement check which averages around $1100.00 per month. Most of it goes for credit card bills and doctor bills she never paid off. I don't know if it is because she is living with us or I filled something out wrong. Right now she needs all the help she can get.

While it is theoretically possible to be eligible for both Medicaid and a veterans pension such as the Aid and Attendance or Homebound benefits, in practice individuals do not receive assistance from both programs at the same time.

Might be a good idea to consult with an Elder Care attorney before you reapply. Also, there's the Medicaid 5 year look back where they examine a persons financial records. Did they give a reason for the rejection?

If she is a retired veteran, why would she need Medicaid?
