My Mother stopped eating since she heard she's got liver cancer. Any advice?
My mother has been in the hospital for six weeks. She hasn't eaten since she be in she gone from fourteen stone to six stone. I hope I'm not too late before something happen to her.
It's difficult to say what is the cause. I'm sorry that she and you are going through this. /What does the doctor say? She could be depressed due to this news or maybe it's something to do with the cancer. I hope they can help her.
What stage is her cancer? How old is your mom and what is her general health? Are her doctors doing anything to increase her appetite? It sounds like you live in the UK, so you may have different protocols over there than here in the US. I'd sure be talking to her doctors (and her) about what is going on. If she has end-stage cancer, she may have given up or she may not be able to keep anything down. Please give us more detail about your mom and her condition.
It may be the cancer Mother hen but it may be that she has just given up. Is she not eating because she is refusing food or is she not eating because she can't swallow or is the food being left for her and taken away because she can't manage to eat it? Dad refused food when he first got cancer but he would drink - so I made him milky drinks with Complan. now I don't know what you call it we also have ensure and 40sips fortisips I think.... they are all builder uppers for those who cannot eat conventionally. Im not trying to advertise but i only know them by those names - sorry mods
