How much would you give a live-in caregiver in terms of year end bonus/tip?

It is getting to that time of year! She lives in , in her own apartment and covers care 24/7. Of course with appropriate time off. She has been with us for 6 months caring for my father.

Two weeks wages would be good. What not to give her hand lotion, perfume, shampoo, or knick knacks. They can use money.

Excellent answers, Windyridge, Babalou, pamz,
because they are all truly worth their weight in gold.

If she is doing a good job a good bonus will mean a lot to her and keep her around. This is hard work. Give as much as you can afford.

The norm is whatever you pay the person in a week.

Great question! The wonderful CNA's that care for dad deserve a holiday bonus. They work through an agency that has no real policy re holiday gifts. Dad has a day nurse, night nurse, weekend nurse, and each one has a reliever. This is a challenge.

I believe in one weeks pay...

No she is not from an agency, a friend of a friend. Hired directly. Dads house has a lovely apartment in it and she lives there with her husband.

Is she from an agency? Have you hired her directly?

If she is with an agency there may be restrictions that you should be aware of.
