Can Medicaid ask to be paid back for her care from his estate if it was over 5 years ago?

My grandfather recently passed away. He was not on Medicaid. My grandmother died 5 1/2 years ago and she was on Medicaid.

The 5-year rule is used when applying for Medicaid. There is no time limit for Medicaid to collect funds to help pay for your Grandmother's care.

I am not sure, there could be a chance that if your Grandparents owned a home together, that medicaid could have placed a lien on half of the home.... the lien remains until the home is sold. There are exceptions, it depends on the Medicaid rules for the State that they had resided.

There are other writers out there that know more about this, maybe they can help.
