My brother is in an ALF, if I sell his home what are some of the spend down items we could purchase?

I have POA for him. The house is paid for so he will receive about $60,000.. Would the $2000 in assets mean he could keep $2000 cash?

$60K is not very much, I would not spend a nickel, it would barely be enough for two years in the ALF.

Question for the Medicaid spend down experts here: Couldn't the $60K be used to pay for facility care until the $2K is reached?
