I found the adoption papers and they say I have an estate. What can I do?
I was a foster kid and got adopted by a lady who later died when I was 8. I'm now 25, I just found the adoption. I found the adoption papers an they said I have an estate I have no copy of her will an her parents r in a home unreachable what cN I do
What is the specific wording as to the "estate"? This doesn't make sense to me either as adoption generally addresses the desire of the parties and the legality to adopt, not any inheritance.
Get a certified copy of her death certificate and take that along with the adoption papers and contact an attorney on the state on which your adoptive mother died. I never heard of adoption papers making mention of an estate.
