My Mom's in a walker and would like to get out and be with others. Any advice?

She will need a ride to and from or at least to the place for 2 hours.

Call the Apollo Beach senior center and see if they have any transportation or have arrangements with the local transit authority.

Call the local transit authority and ask about Dial-A-Ride small bus service, or "door-to-door" service. In Michigan, these services provide door-to-door transit. There may be some limitations - e.g., in my county, it's only within a 10 mile radius. The cost is nominal - $1.00 each way.

Wherever your mother wants to go may have its own transit service as well.

If she is in an urban area most have transportation for the elderly and handicapped. Ours will pick you up at your door and take you, then come back for you at a specified time. It is a great service, but you have to a little flexible with the timing.

Figure on spending $25 per hour plus mileage for a Chauffeur. Check your yellow pages.
