If I can get Mother to sign DPOA, does it have to be in front of a notary?

I have the form for Durable Power of Attorney, mother is in a home, if she sign the papers does a notary have to be present to witness her signature, we would have to take her out to do that.

You are not listening. I am a Notary and I would never ever notarize the signature of an incapacitated person. Now go get Guardianship.
