What to expect after stopping Namenda?

Mom is 91 w dementia , she was never able to take aircept but has been on nemenda for couple yrs...when we saw a new neurologist she said she did not believe nemenda was helping, then I read will nemenda can increase joint pain..so I took her to Dr and we decided to stop nemenda , but when I asked what to expect he said nothing ..just wondering if any one else has been in this spot

My experience with stopping Namenda and Aricept was that there was no reaction.

Short, I too wonder. My mom has been on Namenda for about six years. The doc also suggested that she be taken off of it and did not have predictions on what would happen when off. My thoughts are if it is not broken do not fix it. I have read other threads on this site where some have no adverse reactions to stopping it, while others think stopping it caused further, fairly rapid decline. I hope you do not experience the later. Once you meet someone with dementia you have met someone with dementia. While there are common elements, each case is different and impossible to predict reactions.
