Dad is in a retirement community and has dementia pretty bad. How do I tell him that he needs to change his underwear daily?

Either me or my husband goes to visit him frequently. We went to do his laundry after 2 weeks and there was only 2 pair of underwear and 1 pair of socks. How do I let him know that he needs to change his underwear and socks daily. When my husband told him that he needs to change his underwear. My Dad said that he didn't have anymore underwear. My husband said "yes you do" and Dad said "where". My husband showed him where they were in his dresser. What else can we do to make sure he has clean underwear and socks on and just clean clothes in general?

Time to call his local Elder Affairs and set him up with home health aid.. I'm sure that they are familiar with the retirement community he lives in..

This will relieve you and your husband from doing his home chores and someone will be there to supervise his showering..

My husband does the same thing. He is only 64. He will shower on Tuesday and that is when the clean undies go on.

There is no bath aide there. He lives in independent living in a retirement community.

There should be a bath person there, that helps him bathe and hands him clean underwear. Even in assisted living, my mother in law has a bath aide.
