Upbeat one day and down the next! I have read about the fear factor in an Alzheimer's patient. There seems to be a lot of this. But my spouse can be very negative one day and very positive the next.
Yes, Francis I have seen a very social man become terrified and angry, without proper medication. My MIL is becoming more docile, as she is losing the energy to walk and her vision is fading. We are trying very hard to keep her mind comfortable as well as her body. The meds can make her forgetful. If they forget to be angry and are easily redirected, I think that is a good thing.
PS I have heard strange "switches" tho. If a person was really mean before diagnosis they can become almost docile, and vice versa while going thru dementia.
My Mom has moved from "good days" to "good hours".... a usual day is hard to predict, but I've seen in one day....peace, anxiety, crying, angry, tired, happy.....it can make you think you are dealing with multiple personalities. We are trying to get her moods stabilized, I will share that before diagnosis, she was a worrier and could be very anxious, so the disease amplifies these it seems.
Was he like this before? Dementia can amplify a person's basic personality. If they were angry, they will be angrier as social filters are failing. We learn as adults to control our moods, but age takes that away from us. Foolish becomes more foolish, selfish becomes more self-centered.
