I'm at a point where I need to help my Mom (86) with her hygiene. Any suggestions?

She is not getting clean when she bathes and because of poor vision, she is not cleaning herself well after bowel movements. I don't know how to broach the subject with her. She is forgetful, but not senile and very sensitive about her capabilities. I don't want to hurt her feelings or be disrespectful, but i don't think I should put it off too much longer. She lives with me, so I am available to help her. Any suggestions?

Discuss her age related decline with her MD. Perhaps he can order aides for bathing. The bowel issue: I would consider installing an automatic bidet toilet seat that sprays warm water. She might like it. A lot.

If your mother has age related decline there isn't going to be a whole lot that she can do to correct this situation.... she is going to need some help either by you or a paid Caregiver.
