How do I find out if my brother has an attorney and has stolen my inheritance?

He has tried to get my social security number from me, which leads me to believe there is money for me.

rbsbaby, contact your local Legal Aid, they help people who cannot afford to pay for an attorney.

rbs, if you are on any kind of public assistance such as SSI or food stamps (SNAP) or HEAP an inheritance will cause all of that to STOP until you spend down again. FYI.

Ok, so give us some detail. Did someone actually die? Then you get the Will at the courthouse. If we are talking about someone who has not died yet, nobody gets to see the Will.

If a will was probated, it is public info available at your courthouse or county. Insurance, banks, etc. have forms to fill out and without your social security nbr, why would he even try. If there are other people involved in the inheritance, you might check with them to find out if a distribution has happened.

If it involves enough money, you may be wise to hire an investigator.

Get your own lawyer and challenge the Will in court.
