Traveling from Texas to Virginia while one of us uses oxygen continuously. Any advice?

I am going to check with our oxygen supplier about precautions, supply of oxygen and storage of tanks in the car. I was thinking about plugging up the home unit in the car and then using tanks while out eating and visiting. They say to leave the window cracked a bit. And to never store tanks in the trunk.. Anyone have any additional hints. My husband is hopefully going to see an ex Korean war buddy after 25 years!

Got in touch with the oxygen supplier and we will take a portable concentrator and a back-up in case anything goes wrong. So, everything is looking great for the trip.

I hope the weather stays good. We will be making the trip in mid April and yes, I will be doing all the driving. But, I plan to make lots of stops, get out and walk around, use the restrooms, etc. I am making all preparations on the car, looking into the oxygen stuff, and hotels. I want this trip to be successful and prayer is important!

How great that your hubby will get a chance to see a war buddy. Hope the trip will be a smooth one. Will you be doing all the driving? My gosh, that is going to be a long haul. Right now the weather here in northern Virginia is unseasonably warm :)
