Does anyone have any information on hiring a live-in care taker for elderly parents?

This would be in the state of Massachusetts. My father is very elderly 90, doesnt want to move into assist living or nursing home. He still lives by himself in his own little apt and doesn't want to move in with family. But he does need some extra help. We have pca's and HHC during the day. I'd like to abide by that and keep him in the community. I have siblings who all live out of state and aren't willing to do anything to help him. They call periodically but that's it. I have been looking after him since 2003 and have poa.

You would need to do payroll taxes. You might also look at the new federal and state wage and hour laws that cover caregivers! If everyone has to pay minimum wage for all hours, staying at home won't be cheaper.
