My Mom's currently in a rehab facility for over a month. She wants to go home but they keep delaying her exit. Can I take her home?

She had fallen and bruised her hip but did not break anything. She has done everything they have asked but they keep postponing her release by saying that they want to make sure she is ready. She feels that she is ready and wants to go home to her own home. I, her daughter, live with her and care for her and also feel she is ready to go home. The doctor at the facility is not her personal doctor and has only needed to see her 2 times so when she is released we will go to her own doctor. Can the facility keep her there?

So you have a sit-down with them and ask what goals have not been met. If their answers are vague and they refuse to give you written, documented reasons for keeping her, take the complaint to the state health department.

I have actually seen her do all of those tasks that you have said, so I am not just tataking her word for it. It is very frustrating for me as well as her since she has
Mmet the goals. Since I live with her, I know what she was like before she went to rehab and where she is now and it is a major improvement.

Ask for a second opinion. If she has not met the PT goals, she should stay. Don't just take her word for it, make her prove that she can walk, dress, get to the potty and in and out of the tub, do stairs etc. My MIL lied through her teeth and said she was fine. We had to have someone with her every day because she could not do much of anything and she needed a diaper because she couldn't move fast enough.
