I'm confused. mom has Senior Care for prescription drugs, and also Medicare part D. Does she need both?

My Mom has a Rx plan but since she is low income she has medicare D which medicare pays for.. She still needs to keep her Rx plan but medicare pays it.. So now it's not deducted from her monthly social security check.
