Does POA give me everything I need or do I need additional documents?

A DPOA is a Durable Power of Attorney. It covers who will make financial decisions when your husband is unable to do so. Many states require three originals. One is yours, another stays with your attorney and the third can be placed in a safe in your home or with your accountant. The other POA is a Health Care (Medical) Power of Attorney or "Living Will." This is a declaration by your husband that he will not be kept alive by artificial means. His spouse (you) are usually the first person who will make decisions when he cannot. It is also a good idea to have a second or even a third person (your children) who will serve as agents if you cannot or are unwilling to serve.
