My husband has LBD and is Sundowning every evening. At that point, his mumbles and his speech is not understandable. Any suggestions?

It is very frustrating for him as well as for me. I cannot understand 90% of what he says and he is not able to repeat what he is saying and this upsets him very much. I will say a word or two that I can pick up but that doesn't even seem to help. At times he will ramble on for about 5 minutes. Any suggestions?

My mother goes through this as well. I don't understand most of what she's saying either. I just go along with it like a conversation saying thinks like, "Oh really?" or "Hmmmmm." If she smiles or laughs, I just smile and laugh along with her.

My husband is unable to write at this point. He tried to write a letter of apology (his choice to do this, not mine) to our grandchildren recently and was unable to even write the word "Dear." He remembers some things the next day but the majority he does not.

Does he remember anything the next morning? My MIL has limited recall day to day. This has happened often to us. I've tried to set-up routines to help us. I also keep kindergarten pencils & paper near her. Sometimes she can write enough for me to figure it out.
