When a parent passes at home, do I have to call 911 to have a coroner examine her, or can I just call the funeral home?

Hello daughteralone,

There is a very similar recent discussion/question in the forum that has an expert answer that I think will help you. Please see the link below.

Funeral home won't pick up the body until there is a death certificate. Hospice takes care of that. If you aren't working with Hospice, then you call 911 and they can send the Coroner but that takes a lot of time and you have to answer a lot of questions.
