Our father sometimes does not sleep through the night but wanders. Care facilities we have looked at have all recommended Trazodone.

We are reluctant to medicate our father but we do not have the funds to provide an overnight caregiver. I'd be interested in hearing of people's experience with Trozodone -- about side effects plus any tips and cautions. Thank you.

Trazadone is an old antidepressant that doesn't work very well for its intended use, but can be great for helping anxious people sleep. Your father's doctor should monitor it carefully, because it can build in the system, but it certainly sounds like an option. Talk with her doctor and see what he or she thinks.
Take care,
Carol

Trazadone worked wonders for my mother. Do it for your sake. She has sunflowers and since she started taking it she stopped the craziness and wandering and calling people at night. I'd do it. It's a miracle.

My mother-in-law took Trazodone for years with no complications. As stated before, it helped her with her anxiety. If it helps your father with his wandering, I suggest you give it to him. Good luck!!

My mother takes Trazodone and she sleeps like a baby all night. I just hope it keeps working like it has. It's wonderful. I've heard some people have different reactions to it but it also could have been an underlying medical problem that kept it from working. Good luck to you and I hope it works!!!!

I was prescribed Trazodone when in my 50's and my husband had a disabling stroke. He was released from hospital with a C-PAP, and my sleep was disturbed. Trazodone helped me fall asleep and stay asleep; yet I was aware enough to wake if he needed help.
Now I am in my 70's and I still take Trazodone and Hubby is still living! One thing to be aware of: after taking the drug I figure I have 30 minutes to head for bed, before I fall asleep in the chair -- but if I do sleep in the chair, I will be back to sleep soon after my head hits the pillow in our bed!

I have been taking Trazodone for at least 2 yrs. and have had no problems. It has definitely helped with my anxiety and insomnia.
