Can I take a standard deduction for my dependent elderly parent?

My dad lives with me. I don't itemize on my taxes. Can I take a standard deduction for him?

(Dependency Exemption, not standard deduction). He would be a qualifying relative and you can claim him as your dependent if he meets the 5 test criteria for dependency that are listed. You can find them at www.irs.gov under Personal Exemptions and Dependents.
