Are seniors permitted to drink alcohol while living in assisted living?

In most states an assisted living resident must follow their doctors orders. Therefore the assisted living community must also follow the resident's doctors orders. With that said if the doctor does not indicate a limit of alcohol or order no alcohol then an assisted living community may serve a resident alcohol. The assisted living community may also have a community policy that prohibits alcohol use in the community. This is a good question to ask while touring an assisted living community.
