I recently received a substantial lump sum payment from SSDI. Will I still be qualified for Medicaid when I am up for my annual renewal?

I was awarded social security disability a few months back. i just received my lump sum back pay, which was a substantial amount of money. Will I still be eligible for Medicaid? I am now qualified for Medicare. I also receive auxilliary benefits for my minor child, also substantial amount of money. I am afraid Medicaid will want to be reimbursed and will deny me coverage since I received such a substantial amount of money.

I think they give you a time frame to 'spend down' that back pay, but you would do well to check with SSDI because cases can differ. It's always smart to get the answer directly from the agency you are working with.
Good luck,
Carol
