I am a single teacher caring for my elderly mother. I pay a caregiver to come in while I work. Is there any financial help available?

If your mother is on Medicaid, there may be some. The best thing to do is check locally, as every state is different. You can go to your state's website, and then type "aging" in the search box. Under that, you should fine some links. If she is on Medicaid, if you look under your state's ombudsman site, you may find a Medicaid link.

Good luck. In most states, it's hard to get funding for this. Help like this is generally considered "private pay" until her funds run out. But please do check. Your state may be different.

Is you mother the widow of a veteran? Does she have little funds? If yes to both of these questions call the Veterans Admin. and she could qualify for home health care paid by the VA. Widows of veterans are eligable for care just as their husbands. Good Luck
