This question has been asked in various forms over the past couple of years - please look in the Money & Legal section of this site and you'll find lots of threads with great advice. The short answer is: you might get paid but not much and given the current economic state of our states - funds are going to get tighter and home health care is likely to be cut.

Since it's your mother - remember that if you move into her home and start paying all the bills OR you move her in with you - you can claim her as a dependent on your taxes. Add up all the expenses - her share of utilities, food, gas and mileage to/from doctor, pharmacy, therapy, adult day care - special items like depends, oxygen, supplemental insurance coverage, - it all adds up fast. To be exactly certain of the tax requirements see someone who prepares taxes.
Best of luck.
