What is the appropriate amount to tip your caregiver?

Do you mean as a holiday gift? Or in general--like after a really bad day or night? Please clarify. I wouldn't have any money left if I tipped my caregivers after a "difficult day". They get paid really well, eat my food, etc. I have 2 caregivers and am giving them $100 gift cards for Christmas to store of their choice. Additionally, I think it's relative, depending on how much they are usually paid. But it's nice to get an extra $20 once in a while, right?
