My mom suffers from dementia and now has terminal cancer. Can she pay me to provide home care?

I have filed for guardianship with my sister, but it is not final yet. We don't know if we can legally pay for one of us to provide her care at home even though it would be cheaper and better care than a nursing facility.

Your Mother's SS check and pension, (if she has one) would go to a facility to take care of her, when you get guardianship you will be responsible for how her money is spent and will have to report that to Social Security. My advice to you is wait it out, when you get guardianship, then you can have your name added to her banking accounts. Just talk it over with your Mom and let her know what you are doing, she will probably be thankful you are taking care of her instead of being thrown away into a nursing home.
