My 66-year-old mother needs to see a doctor as soon as possible, but has no income or assets. How can I get Medicare for her?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Jun 2010
She is old enough for Social Security, so if she's enrolled she has Medicare A, but the is hospital and care of that sort. Medicare B has a premium, but she would be eligible. Check with your state insurance department for help. She could quality for SSI - check out http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pgm/links_ssi.htm for low income people.
Good luck.
