She will need to be in a nursing home. Do you have any source available to help you get her placed in one? They need to be treated daily. I know all about this because my my mother developed them after being dropped by a newly hired aid. It can be a long road to healing depending on what stage they are. Do you know the level they are at? After level 4 it becomes much more serious. Sorry to sound negative but as I mentioned I have alot of experience with them. The ALF should recommend a place with a higher level of care and Medicare should pay at least to start. Please try to speak to ideally a social worker to find placement and a facility that will treat this.
Where did she get these sores? The AL, a hospital stay?
Having bed sores this bad means neglect. They have to be treated correctly from the beginning by a woundcare Nurse. Do not try to do this on your own. Ask the AL if you have a doctor order "in home" care with a woundcare nurse if they will let her back. ALs cannot care for something like this.
This is serious and someone needs to be found responsible. These sores can become septic.
CVS sells a Manuka honey cream that's not sticky like most Manuka honey products. I would try that on the bed sores. I've seen that stuff clear up a lot of things in just a couple of days. If the sore is in a heat rash looking area, I'd try Monistat on it.
