Have you quit work to take care for a family member?

I was just wondering if some people here are 24 hours a caregiver? I work and at the same time I’m a caregiver of my dad, and it’s a d*mn hard! I might have to quit my current job if I could find better options.

Brad, does your Dad live with you, or is your Dad still on his own in his own home and you help out at his home?

My Dad wanted me to quit work so that I could have more time to drive him and Mom where ever they want to go [they still live in their own home]. I asked Dad if he had quit work to care for his own parents.... his answer was *no*.... thus he never asked me again.

I know for myself, I would never quit my job as it is my sanity as I am around all types of people, doing very interesting work.... it's my *vacation* for my brain.

My parents would have been so much happier if they had decided to move into a retirement community, being around other people from their own generation, all the great stories they could tell, etc., and they would have had MORE freedom then they do now.... now they have to wait for me to reschedule my work week to drive them where ever they want to go.
