Ray Dolby died yesterday.

Audio pioneer Ray Dolby died yesterday. He was 80 years old. He is the man behind Dolby sound reduction that we all so appreciate. No more pops and crackles in our music! Ray had Alzheimer's and acute leukemia. His monetary worth at the time of his death was $2.4 billion. Even wealth and genius do not protect against the diseases that haunt the elderly. I'll think about him today when I listen to my pop-and-crackle-free music.

That is sad... and thank God for him and his brilliant mind! But, with 2.4 bil, bet he got the best care/comfort possible around the clock till the very end. And you're right...no money can buy someone out of a disease..

Rest well, Mr. Dolby. Nobody will ever forget you.
