My dad has cancer and had a stroke. He lives with his sister and requires full-time care, but we all work.

My dad had a stroke and lives with his sister, he now has cancer and needs fulltime care, we all work, I want to get home health but aunt does not want and does not think that me or my sister to have any say in his care, she wants his sister inlaw to take of him but she is not able; I think it is my decision not hers because he is not married and I am the oldest. Who is right?

This is why we all need a health directive. Is your dad able to decide for himself? If not, try to make a list of pros and cons to show why you are best able to care for him. If all else fails, a family mediator can jump in, but try to do it yourself or with a social worker first, so save family ties.

Good luck,
Carol
