the problem at the moment are all the articles and utube videos coming out by doctors and in some cases even professors and specialists, that say, that there should only be 5grms of insulin in the bloodstream at any time but everytime we overeat and the food contains sugar or carbohdyrates, more and more insulin is pumped into the bloodstream causing insulin resistance and the unhealthy waistline recently labeled as metabolic syndrome. The body doesnt use insulin to process healhy fat in the body so there is no hyperinsulinema. They are saying carbohydrates are causing the heart symptoms like high cholestrol and not the eating of fats. They put up some pretty good medical facts to support their claims. So now I have stopped taking my cholestrol tablets and so have some other women I know of because they say that cholestrol cuts off the production of coenzime 10 in the body, and a lot of people say they have noticed memory loss after long periods of taking them, plus the brain is over 90% made up of cholestrol.
I have always had excellent blood pressure readings. My cholestrol however has gradually gone up to 9.00 since menopause. Interestingly, my Dad who is 86years old has also had high cholestrol readings for years, but at 86 years has a very healthly heart. Adding another piece to the puzzle, his memory was getting really bad and we thought he had early alzhiemers, but since he ditched the cholestrol tablets his memory seems to have improved. It made me wonder could it be in some people without blood pressure or heart disease, that the cholestrol is high to protect the brain in people prone to alzhiemers.
Anyway, I feel we need clarity on the sugar, versus fat research as some of the old research on fats is showing up to have serious questions. Now I am forced to choose between not taking cholestrol tablets or not. And the groundswell of opinion on them needing to do new research on this is growing.
Heart disease in female is of concern especially for those who does not have a yearly physical ,improper lifestyle and lack of knowledge.I believe that educating women about this disease is the most important tool to fight it.
I hadn't realized just how big of a disease heart disease was amongst women until earlier this year. This prompted me to start donating to the cause, as well and join a leadership team dedicated to the cause. I look forward to learning more and helping spread the word about what we can do to help prevent this disease.
The articles are good, but nothing more than what I already knew. Since living with and being care taker of my husband, that is of little support, I would appreciate hearing more about having less stress...dealing with being between and rock and a hard place.
