Check with your county’s Department of Aging. There should be social workers employed there who can give you info re:services. These services can pick up the disabled and take them to & from doctors appts. To be eligible for this the disabled person must be ready to be picked up - dressed and in their wheelchairs as many of these buses have wheelchair lifts. The person usually must request the pick up 1-2 weeks in advance as the bus service transports others as well. The drivers won’t come into the home and assist the person - the service is usually curb to curb. The fee for these rides are often income based. The person must apply for these services through the county and meet the eligibility requirements. Start with your Dept of Aging; visit their website too to assess what services are available. If you must hire your own driver do consult your auto insurance to be certain your insurance covers someone else driving you to/from appointments.
It cost the disabled $80-120.00 round trip to schedule a non-emergency medical transit to/from appointments in our community. Not affordable, but maybe hiring someone to take you to/from your appointments using your car?
