My husband (77), exercises and in good health. He goes to bed early and is currently getting about 10-12 hours a night. Normal?

He is still working and supporting us. We are raising our grandson who is now 15 and we have been under a lot of stress for quite a while. Things are calming down now but my husband keeps wanting to make his bedtime earlier and earlier. He is now trying to go to bed at 5:30 and generally sleeps until 5:30. I am worried but also think with everything he does he might just need more sleep.

I agree: you and he will feel better for having checked that nothing is amiss. And if you get yourself looked over too while you're at it, you can present the idea as nothing more than routine health care.

I think if you are pushing 80 and working and parenting and living in chaotic stress you may need plenty of sleep. But just to be on the safe side I suggest a visit to his doctor.

Grandparents are greatly loved, needed, and appreciated (sometimes appreciated is not expressed) but you are the core of this generation!! This task is tiring, especially on a full time basis...You are needed and very much loved...So on this note, go to doctor and see if there is any underlying issues, your grandson will love you more for it :)
