Is there a fund to provide help for a senior cancer patient who needs a ride for treatment?

Waterbury to Yale, New Haven at least 5 times a month for treatment. The entire trip to an from would be about 3 hours(with treatment time). To hire someone to drive me would cost about $500.00 a month, which I cannot afford. I can afford a reasonable amount, but that is too much. Any info you can give will be appreciated.

The American Cancer Society assists with transportation, check their website. It is called 'road to recovery'. Ditto for your church/house of worship group. Finally, when friends/relations/neighbors ask how they can help, let them know you need transportation. It's unlikely that any one person will be able to take you on all of your visits but if you can get some 'free help' for some trips, your travel dollars will go farther.

If this is a major treatment center, they can often help arrange transportation. Actually $100 for a 50 mile round trip over 3 hours is a low end price. Offer a neighbor $50 a trip, or a friend at church might take the offer.
